Our Impact

Support a Life Transformed

“A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones.”

— Nelson Mandela

Why Zimele Exists

  • Tens of thousands of South Africans are waiting for a prosthetic limb.
  • The public healthcare system cannot meet the demand.
  • Causes of amputations include diabetes, poor sanitation, trauma, and violence.
  • Amputees face physical, social, and emotional barriers to recovery.

Noxolo’s Story

Noxolo, a single mother, waited 6 years without a prosthesis due to her weight and lack of access. After joining Zimele, she not only received a prosthesis, but also regained her mental health and entered a business management learnership.

Being part of Zimele changed my life. I got counselling, a leg, and a future.

Cameron’s Story

After losing his leg and his marriage, Cameron was hopeless. Zimele gave him a prosthetic leg, purpose, and confidence. He now walks again—and even danced in a fundraiser to help others.

I cannot describe in words the excitement. My life has truly been restored.
